How come the majority of main characters in Disney movies never have mothers?

The only Disney movie I know of with a mom is the Aristocrats, and they were cats!|||Well hercules had two sets of both parents

101 dalmations had both parents

Jenny in Oliver and Company had both parents (but they were absent)

However, you are correct in noting that mom is gone. Disney felt thatt he loss of a mother was more deeply felt than the loss of dad|||Crud. I know we discussed this in class when we were talking about sexism in disney princess films in english class. Something about how there are no mothers because they don't want to show powerful women. Here's a comment from this site I found:

"However, in the area of the Disney villain, Disney shows real evenhandedness, perhaps even preferential hiring. VILLAINS CONSIDERED AFFIRMATIVELY, the other sign might read. Unlike the mother taboo, Disney creates looming, hideous female witches, demons, octopi, dragons, and stepmother-monsters, to make sure everyone comes away with a perfectly nauseating feeling toward powerful women. They can be disposed of by bursting, melting, catching fire, being run through with swords, pushed off cliffs, or other imaginative punishments. The sound of their screams as they perish in agony is bloodcurdling. Some are even moms."

You know what i just realized? Twilight. Renee, Bella's mom is barely in the book or movie at all. She's described as unreliable, childish, and random. But then there is Esme, but it's not like she's an important character. Jacob doesn't have a mom...Victoria's the villian and she's a powerful woman...mm...Twilight is sexist, huh? Ah sorry, random comment...|||b/c they want to mix it up, and you feel more pity to the main character who suffers hardships.

hey there isn't any black disney main character is there? ...funny everything but black lol

i guess they aren't really making their characters as diverse as we thought...|||Its just to make you feel more sympathetic towards the character and pulls you into the fantasy world. Although there are some out there with parents... mostly just fathers though, what is it with guys not bein able to keep their women alive in cartoons?|||Most of the time a mother is an irrelevant character, or the fact that she's not there somehow fits into the plot.|||ahhaha i agree! but except i know that wendy had a mom in peter pan and snow white had an evil stepmom. but mostly they have dads or no parents at all...lol gosh disney..... hehehe i %26lt;3 disney =DDD
