How can a middle class kid afford agents, and plane tickets to become an aspiring disney channel actor?

I am a 13 year old girl trying to be an aspiring Disney actress!I have done a commercial before for a friend and have been in school plays.I play the saxaphone and play many sports.I have experince acting out skits in front of crowds. My philosophy is that if all else goes wrong laugh it off!I just want to make people laugh!I have good commitment skills and will give 110%.I would really love to try and be on Disney.I feel that Disney is about having fun and that if you believe and try try again your dreams can come true! That would be my dream come true if I were on Disney! Please help a sister out!|||The first thing you should know is that legitimate agents do NOT charge money! They get a commission of 10% for work they help you get. If anyone ever approches you and claims to be an agent and charges a fee then they are running a scam and you should run away from them as fast as you can.

Another thing you should know is that actors do not choose the company they work for. They are actors and they first study their craft, then get roles in local theatre productions, then generally do some student and indie films to build a resume, then they get an agent if any agents will take them. Once you get an agent, they send you out on auditions for roles that you breakdown for, not roles on shows that you want to be on. This is just the way it is. You may certainly tell an agent that your dream is to be on a Disney project, but if Disney never puts out a breakdown for a role that fits your description then you will not be able to audition for them.

Every once in a while they have gameshow type things where you can submit yourself online for that, but you need to be certain that your parents are ok with you doing that. You also need to know that it's likely that hundreds of thousands of other kids will also be submitting entries so the odds are not great. However, someone has to be chosen, so why not you? Just have your parents help you with your submission and make absolutely certain that you follow al the rules for entering.

Look for someone on here who's online identity is "OnCamera". He has a blog somewhere with some Disney casting info. These opportunities are very rare I imagine because Disney gets inundated with submissions, but when they pop up that may be your only chance unless or until your family moves to Los Angeles.

In my personal opinion, the right way to go about having an acting career is to make absolutely certain that this is what you want because it's a hard life. You have to be able to take a lot of rejection and not take it personally. You also have to widen your horizons because no agent in their right mind will take someone who only wants to work for Disney. You need to make sure your parents are behind you 1000% because you can't do anything without them.

Get into acting classes. You can't do anything until you know what you're doing. Disney kids are triple threats so don't forget the dance classes and voice lessons too. Start auditioning at local theatres and once you've gotten a few roles start thinking about trying for student %26amp; indie films. Try these sites: www.backstage.com (casting search) and www.actorsaccess.com - set up a free account and look at the breakdowns for your area. You can also see if your state has a film alliance / commission / society or whatever your state calls theirs (some have more than one). Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. They may also have info on where you can take classes so check out these sites thoroughly!

Once you have training and a good resume of roles then you can look for an agent. Go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions. You can look up agents all over the US, but there are higher concentrations where the work is (Los Angeles, NY, IL, FL, GA etc.). Another great resource is Ross Reports especially because they update their info so often but not all of the agents they list are SAG and you have to pay for the list. That doesn鈥檛 mean they鈥檙e not legit, but that鈥檚 why I always tell people to start with the SAG list. It鈥檚 free and those agents have signed an agreement to put the actor first! www.rossreports.com If you subscribe to backstage.com you can get a combo subscription which can come in handy but can also get quite expensive.

Then you can send the agencies your headshot, resume, and a cover letter stating that you are seeking representation and wait to see if they call you in for an interview. You never call the agencies directly. That is a big no-no! At least it is in LA. Please remember that reputable agents take exactly 10% of your pay AFTER they help you get a job. Not one cent more and not one cent before. Anything else is a scam. This is strictly for talent agents, not modeling agents or talent managers who take different percentages.

good luck!|||You have to be spotted by the right Disney people.|||You need to seek the advice of your parents or any other adult that is close to you, and stop looking for answers on yahoo....they'll be able to help you better than me or some other stranger who don't know you.|||Ehhh...I wouldn't go for being on Disney. They are very picky and the actors arn't very good.It wouldn't give you a good reputation for acting and you probably wouldn't get many jobs.Try something else.A commercial in your local town,a low budget movie, etc.Work your way up.

Good luck! I wish you best! :)|||The only way is to be in LA. That is where they hold auditions, but even if you lived there you might not be able to get one.

Professional acting takes lots of experience and a look that an agent can market. It also takes parental permission for those under 18.|||i can tell you really want this. im 13 too and it's my dream to be an actress as well. It sounds like you have a lot of expeirience already. You should talk to your parents and I don't mean like "oh hey mom, I want to be an actress on disney." I mean like a face to face conversation. Tell them how you feel. Make them understand that it is your dream, not just a hobby. You can talk about expenses adn maybe work out a deal. Offer to pay for a certain amount of the cost. Babysit and do stuff like that to earn money.

I'm kind of in the same place as you are. My parents are both teachers so they get paid squat. All I want to do is act. Good luck! OH and by the way, I love the philosiphy! YOu are probably the only person I've met that wants to be an actress to make people laugh, for the acting part. Normally when I tell people how I feel their all like "you want to be famous? don't we all." and im like "no i want to ACT." and they dont get it. ur like really mature. anywho, best of luck!|||if i were you i'd try to get some commercial parts in areas near you. also, have you ever seen some of those disney things that are like "im a kid this is what i like to do" they talk about the sports they play and what they like to do. research how they choose those kids and if you could make a movie for them. Just keep trying, taking all the oppertunities you can, and dont give up. it's a hard buisness so dont get your hopes up, but just keep trying and maybe you'll get lucky. hope all turns out well and i'll see you on the big screen soon.
