How to start planning a Disney World vacation for summer 2009?

Hi,

I would like to start thinking about/planning a Disney vacation for June 2009. It will be for a family for four (one child, 5 years old, and one child just under 3 years old). We would obviously like to get the most bang for our buck. I don't want the best hotel...but I absolutely insist that it is clean. I tried to look up stuff on the internet but it all seems so overwhelming about where to start. Any advice would be great. Thanks!|||You've gotten some really good answers. Let me add one more idea: check out http://yourfirstvisit.net/

This site is designed for first time travelers to Walt Disney World, is incredibly easy to use, brand new and up to date, and getting great reviews.

It gives the exact answer to all the basic questions, and if you can't follow that answer, gives your next best options, in order. So simple! This is the best place to start (even though you can't go in December!!): http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-鈥?/a>

Have a wonderful trip!! Dave|||Hi, you will find interesting information about Dysneyland in

in the USA category, please check it|||I love Disney - there are several sites to start with but I will tell you with children that small you must stay on the disney property - you will need to take many breaks and you will not have that option if you need to go drive somewhere.

Your kids are awfully small for this and will likely remember very little (I took mine at 7,9,11 all they remembered was the talking garbage can at EPCOT).

If you stay on a disney property you can get to whatever park has an early entrance and do quite a lot before the crowd gets too big.

Plan on going back to your hotel to relax, take a nap, lounge at the pool for several hours.

Then more refreshed you can go back to the park.

If you are at a disney property and buy anything = you can have it delivered to your room so you don't have to carry it.

Don't get sucked into standing in line to get autographs - you will see nothing but the people in front of you.

You will find a lot of sections of the park are not going to be even remotely interesting for children that small. There is a way however that you can go up something like space mountain and one of you wait with kids while other rides and then other one takes the kids and you ride.

I would start with the WDW website http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/tic鈥?/a> or go to http://www.allearsnet.com/

It will be hot (I went last year June) and crowds are much more that you can imagine - previous times I went were Oct, Nov, March, April. Oct is the best.

get maps of the parks and plan ahead as some entrances to attractions are well hidden. plan on a character breakfast to take the place of standing in line for all those pictures at the park.

Have fun - I know that you are excited to take your kids but waiting a year or two might be a better option.

I've stayed both at the All-star and the Port ORleans Riverside - I loved riverside best.|||I too have been overwhelmed planning my Disney trips. I use Custom Mouse Plans and they are so great! They design our itinerary and touring plans and even make our dining reservations. June can be busy, so they will be even more helpful for you. They don't make hotel and plane reservations, but they gave us some great advice on what to book and how to save money!

Have fun planning!|||We used Custom Mouse Plans too and loved them!|||I planned our first trip using www.waltdisneyworld.com and did a great job. I also used it to plan the next trip. Then I found www.planabettermousetrip.com and will be faithful to them for all future trips. The cost is basically nonexistent as they charge the same as if you plan through Disney. They offer valuable information and great suggestions. The do all the planning and meet your every need.

I suggest Value Resort: Pop Century is my favorite. Purchase Park Hopper tickets and the dinning plan. 180 days before your arrival you can schedule meals, and with your kids ages the character meals are a must.

Have a great trip.|||Ok, first, take a deep breath. It seems very overwhelming at first, but it is doable!

There are so many nice hotel rooms that you will be fine. The best rule of thumb is, if it seems to good too be true, it probably isn't too good. I agree with staying at a resort on Disney property, it makes the trip very cool. The resort you choose has a lot to do with the make up of your group and your budget.

I think a trip planning service sounds like a good idea. I checked the website mentioned by others and it seems decent. May be worth checking out. The testimonials were very good.

The biggest thing to remember is that you will need to plan. Disney without a plan, especially in June, can be taxing. A little time spent planning before the trip can make all the difference in the world.|||Allears.net and mousesavers.com are filled to the brim with disneyworld and moneysaving tips. If you have a Disney store nearby, go ahead and start buying some Disney dollars every so often. That way you have currency you can spend at Disney that you can't spend anywhere else, a great way to save money!

I personally have had cheaper experiences booking my room and tickets seperate and forgoing the dining plan. I have two small kids and always take snacks in for them as well as packets of the single serving kool aid and crystal light. Fill up a few bottles using those and you'll save 2.50-3.00 per bottle of water/soda that you would have to buy in the parks.

The all star or pop century resorts are the best value, but they also offer the smallest rooms. You can rest assured they are clean! If small rooms are not a problem for you, I recommend staying at one of those. I, my husband, and our children (6 and 8) all stayed in one just last week and aside from having to manuver around toys on the floor, we liked it just fine. Staying on Disney property saves you 11.00 a day in parking fees. You can also buy refillable mugs in the food court that you can refill as much as you like at the resort for the length of your stay. They also have huge pools and great poolside activites, nightly outdoor poolside movie on the big screen, wii tournaments on the big screen, hula hoop contests, scavenger hunts. They also, as all Disney resorts do, have an arcade and onsite store. As a Disney owned resort guest, you also are entitled to extra magic hours on select days or nights, in which only resort guests can stay in the parks a few hours before or after the public posted operating hours. And free disney transportation means no getting lost or money spent on gas as you manuver around the world.

Be sure to go to disneyworld.com and order your free disney vacation planning DVD which will give you more details about all the resorts, etc.|||I really like The Unofficial Guide To Walt Disney World. You can pick it up at Amazon.com for about $14. Lots of great, unbiased, information. It's very thorough and entertaining as well. There is also many comments from readers who have been there. I refer to my copy frequently.
