How were the Disney parks started? I am wondering because I would like to start a theme park like Disney or possibly Universal Studios when I get older, but I need to start planning now. What are some tips for opening places like these?|||1. Buy 30,000 acres of swamp land
2. Drain these 30,000 acres of swamp land (which is now illegal so good luck with that.)
3. Spend millions on designing, building, etc. and basically be a genius and come up with hundreds of new ideas
4. Hire 10s of thousands of employees
Good luck :)|||Walt Disney sold practically everything he owned just to buy the property and get started. He used all the money from his movies, borrowed from the bank, ect. Building a theme park is VERY EXPENSIVE.
He then teamed up with what Disney calls 'Imagineers' (Engineers in the Disney world) which, at the time, were mostly the best animators employed at the studio. Together, they created the ideas for the themed lands, rides, even trash can designs. They eventually came up with the original themed 'lands', With all the original rides.
over time, they added more lands such as New Orleans Square, Critter Country, and Mickey's Toon Town with many, many more attactions.
Opening day was not a success. It was very hot, over crowded, the concrete wasn't dry, there was a gas leak, rides broke down, and Walt was forced to choose between restrooms and drinking fountains (he chose restrooms). He did not give up hope however, and for a good reason. Today, Disneyland is one of the most, if not THE most successful and popular theme parks in the world. Now with many other theme parks open as well (Disney world, Disneylands Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, and a new resort in Hawaii)
I hope I helped! **** luck and best wishes on making your dream come true! :)|||You need to have an idea of what kind of people you want to attract to your park. Disney is nothing like Universal Studios and they attract completely opposite age ranges. That's the first step. What age are you wanting to attract? Then you need to build the park around that. Walt Disney knew he wanted to create a park where families could go and have innocent fun. You really need to start imagining what park you want. Then you're going to need the money. And LOTS of it. Back in 1955 when Disneyland opened it cost 17 million dollars. Can you imagine what it would be in today's dollars? Possibly billions! You need to have one unique imagination to create a land like that.|||First of all you will have to buy a large amount of land 35,000 acres or so, next step is to hire a lot of workers maybe 20,000 - 50,000, then your going to need the money to hire 500-600 rollercoaster engineers.
its so easy a 5 year old can do it
