What is the better value disney world holiday for a family of six?

With 4 children and two adults, I am confused as to which Disney world holiday option offers better value for money; fly drive villa rental or package holiday staying in a Disney hotel.

I'd appreciate opinions from people who've either both option from the UK.

Thanks!|||DON'T stay at Port Orleans Riverside! We stayed there last year and had an awful time! The foliage/bushes, and trees were so tall I got lost most of the time. Flooding is also an issue in some areas and bugs! Since there were 5 of us, they gave us 2 full beds with one trundle bed. It wasn't a trundle bed -it was a 4 inch foam. They had plenty of pools but they're small. Stay at All Star Music and get an adjoining room...it's cheaper than a regular room at Moderate hotels. TRUST ME.|||There are some villas on Disney Property that are part of the Vacation Club. These are not regular hotel rooms, they are the Disney Deluxe Villas and are all very nice. You can stay on-site at a Disney owned resort in a 1, 2 or 3 bedroom villa with full kitchen and laundry. I own Vacation Club timeshare with Disney and always rent out any extra time that I have not used for about half the price. For your first trip you really should stay on Disney Property to experience the full "magic" that is Disney World. Let me know if you are interested and I could rent a villa for you. Also if you are staying on-site Disney will pick you up from the airport so there is no need to rent a car. Staying at a Disney Deluxe Villa will give you everything that you need in a house rental plus all the convenience and perks of staying on property combined to make for an even better vacation.|||I've done the disney thing 8 times - I wouldn't book a Disney hotel because you get better value off site. The cheapest Disney hotel is more expensive than a good quality hotel off site - rental is probably cheaper for 6 - but I don't think you'll get the same atmosphere - I love Kissimme and International Drive - but my favourite area is Lake Buena Vista - wherever you go - you always get top quality anyway. I recommend the Wyndham Orlando or the Sheraton Safari Hotel Lake Buena Vista - they're good value for money too. Cheaper and with a choice of having a "suite" because there are 6 of you is the Enclave Suites - all found easily on the web. I love dDisney and really envy anyone going for the 1st time. Lucky you.|||We have done both ... the great thing about staying in a Disney hotel is you are "in the magic" and have access to the parks out of hours and the transportation.

The downside of a Disney hotel especially with 4 kids is that you are all crammed into a hotel room or paying for 2 rooms and still have them all squashed into 2 double beds. Plus then you have to eat out which costs a lot of money for 3 meals a day for 6 people

If you stay off site in a villa you have your own private pool -open 24 hours - you even have the option of a 5 bed rental and let each kid have their own room. Also with a full size kitchen you can cut down your food bills; and if you don't fancy cooking you can let the men fire up the bbq.

You don't say how old your kids are but if they are younger than about 9 then don't try to cram too much into 2 weeks. Seeing the theme parks is a hard business and you will need some time off to chill around the pool and do some shopping.

You could book into a Disney hotel for 4 nights and then move to a villa for the rest of your stay to get the best of both worlds.

Personally I have always found it cheaper to book a flight, then a fully inclusive car separately, and then a villa direct with the owner. Have a look at ITV teletext page 222 for flights.

If you go for a fly drive package make sure all your insurances are included otherwise they rip you off when you get there.|||We travel to Orlando on a regular basis.

We always find the cheapest way to arrange your holiday is to do it yourself.

Go on the Internet for flight prices (Thomas Cook has a good flight page). Check out fly-drive but we normally find it cheaper to book flights separately from the car (the fly-drive insurance , which is extra, can come out more expensive that hiring a car with insurance included).

Check out http://www.homefromhomeflorida.com/carhi鈥?/a> for good prices on car hire.

Finally villa rental we find always the cheapest and this also gives you more freedom to roam.

Nothing can be better than returning to your own home with screened pool to relax after your hectic days in the theme parks or shopping at the super malls.

Check out http://www.homefromhomeflorida.com to see the type and price of villa that is available.

Also it is normally best to buy your park tickets before you travel.

On the villa site above there is a link so you can check out ticket prices.

Use these links as reference, there are numerous other villas, car hire and park ticket offers out there on the net. Check for price and for what you are getting for your money.

Whichever way you go you will love Florida.|||Take a look at this comparison I did between staying on-site at Disney with a family of 5 and staying off-site http://disneyworldadvice.blogspot.com/20鈥?/a> It should give a good idea of the differences in cost as well experience. Having done both, I admit there are advantages to both, but for families over 4, I really think the cost savings and the room you get by staying off-site makes it more appealing.|||The best value for 6, all things considered, is a suite at Disney's All-Star Music resort. See this page on Disney World with larger families for more details: http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-鈥?/a>

For your first trip, you really do need to stay at a Disney Resort. For later trips anything goes, but there's significant savings in time, money, and increases in the quality of experience that push to a Disney Resort.

Hope this helps and have a great trip! Dave|||Check this site out:

They have tons of rentals in the Disney area. I just rented a 4 bedroom house with a private pool for $398 for an entire weekend. If you are coming from the UK, I assume you will be here for a while. Being in a rental house might save you some money since you will be able to fix breakfast and maybe dinner yourself in the kitchen!|||We always rent. Saves money and gives the kids time to unwind. They love the pool. My teenager likes her space apart from twin 10 year old brothers! Saves money on food. I've stayed in Disney and other hotels for 35 years. Go with the house.Florida Choice Homes.com|||DONT stay at Disney property. You will pay 50% above the rates for a similar property outside the "world". The cheapest option is to get cheap flights and rent a villa off www.ownersdirect.com|||i stayed at the port orleans riverside and it as nice ... we had a family of 5. There were 2 full beds, and a trundle in our room.|||the rental will probably save you more money, but the hotel would be more convenient.|||just call disney :D|||I would definitely consider staying on Disney property. There are three different levels of hotels: value, moderate, and deluxe. Most of the rooms will accommodate 4 people, so you will need two room (which you can ask for adjoining) or you can stay at one of the hotels that has the family sized rooms that will hold all 6 of you - you'll have to compare prices and see which is best for your family. This site will give you some ideas of what kind of prices to expect, though I recommend shopping around online because I've found deals as good as $30 less per night than what price is quoted there (which are accurate in allignment with Disney's website): http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.ht鈥?/a> .

Staying on property has its advantages. One is that you never leave "the magic" - when you are at your hotel, you are still very much part of the Disney magic. I personally love this experience much more than staying at off site hotels. Another benefit is the Extra Magic Hours - by being a Disney resort guest, you can get into some of the parks about 1 hour earlier and stay about 3 hours later than other guests. They rotate the parks and when they do morning and evening hours, so that is something you can ask them when you check in. Obviously there are a lot of people staying on property, so the park still is busy, but it is typically less crowded (and much cooler than the heat of the day!) - especially if you stay until the bitter end of the 3 hours at night, since that is so late and most people end up heading back to the hotel early. But the best part of staying on property is the Disney transportation - they have buses running constantly to and from the resorts and parks. This eliminates the cost of driving around and parking at the parks (which can quickly add up). If you don't want to leave Disney property to do something else, you won't ever need to move your car after you park it when you arrive. Many of the surrounding area hotels offer complimentary shuttles, but they are nothing compared to the Disney ones. For one, they are much smaller and you have to ride a bit further in them to get to the parks. But also, typically those hotels only run their shuttle about once an hour - if you miss the shuttle or it's too crowded, you're stuck waiting for another hour. Disney buses are running so frequently, you rarely have to wait long at all for one.

Good luck preparing and I hope you have a magical vacation!
