When will Disney make their parks affordable for the average family?

Disney is a great vacation destination, but it's reserved for the wealthy. My wife and I have found it is actually cheaper to spend a week at a casino than to visit Disney World. This is a crying shame. When will Disney wake up to reality and make their parks affordable?|||you can go and great deals if go and buy at the right time|||You're comparing apples and oranges. That's like asking "when will Mandalay Bay make their penthouse suite affordable to the average family?"

Disney is the top of the line in theme parks. It costs more than a place like Six Flags, but they also provide more. They can't sell $30 day tickets and keep an entire crew just to repaint Main Street every night. It may be cheaper to spend a week at a casino, but which casino? If you wanted the best casino in Vegas, you would expect to pay more. It's the same for Disney. Their cost is not what you can afford, or would "like to spend." Their cost is what it takes to run the park, plus profit. (Yeah, they're a corporation.)

Disney is more affordable if you're loyal, meaning you buy tickets for 4+ days, stay on their property, and get the dining plan. The total cost per day drops. Disney is competing with other theme parks in the area, and like airlines, they consider every dollar you spend on their property money taken away from their rivals. If you basically agree to spend your whole vacation there, it's cheaper. Not cheap---but it costs less, and is comparable to a good vacation anywhere else. I agree with the other poster, vacations are expensive everywhere, it isn't just Disney.|||For what you get its not that expensive. My family is average and we have been to the parks 6 times in the past 7 years and we live in South Dakota!!! We dont have any debt from it either. My guess, prices wont get cheaper because they just raised prices about 2 weeks ago. If you get a vacation package its not that much money, you get a lot of discounts. We just went last month to Disneyland for 5 days, with plane tickets, food, tickets, and staying at a Disneyland Hotel it was just over a 1000. Disney World for a week at a moderate resort was about 2000 with everything. They have a lot of options if you look into it! They get the most visitors of any theme park/amusement park Disney parks got over 118 million last year the next closest was 35 million and they have more parks then Disney and even charge more! Universal charges almost $90 a day, while disney is in the $70's. I dont know if you think that is to expensive, but if you know how to work disney its worth it!!!|||We are certainly not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination and we have taken our children to WDW 3 times in 10 years. Disney parks are just as affordable as any other destination vacation.

ETA: Sara, Universal Orlando is not more expensive than WDW

A 1 dy 1 park ticket for WDW is $87.33

A 1 day 1 park ticket for USO is $82.00

7 day WDW park hopper $301.00

7 day Unlimited Flex ticket for USO is %26amp;174.99|||Disney is very busy so they will not discount tickets

The only way to go for less that I have found is to buy 4 to 6 day tickets

far in advance when you get to the park (while inside park) upgrade to Annual Pass

they will only charge the difference between AP and your ticket (only a few dollars more than 6 day pass)

Then return as many times as you can in less than a year (from first day of visit)

The more times you go the cheaper each admission becomes

also check the budget board at

www.disboards.com|||Disney Parks are actually quite affordable, from my experience going over the years.

Most times of the year you can book with a huge discount, of either 40% off rooms or you can opt for free dining. Free dining gets you breakfast, lunch, dinner and a snack for every member of your party for every day of your stay. Always check places like http://www.mousesavers.com for the current discounts. Even without visiting any sites, Disney will apply any offer that is out there to your trip.

A room discount could save you upwards to $700 or more, depending on which resort you choose.

The Disney Value resorts can cost $72 a night, making it only $500 for a week. If you book a discounted trip during an off season time, that makes it significantly cheaper. This hotel rate is cheaper than anywhere I have stayed in NYC, Las Vegas, elsewhere in Orlando, Aruba, Bahamas, Niagara Falls and many other places I've been.

The fact of the matter is that vacations in general are expensive things. Disney vacations are no more expensive than anything else. Booking during off season, or during a time when a discount offer is out there, is when you need to go to Disney if you're on a budget (and aren't we all these days?) Disney seems so expensive, but you just have to know where to look %26amp; when to go. After 20 trips, I kick myself for what I used to pay. My husband I now go in May or September, when discounts are nearly ALWAYS offered, and stay at a Value resort sometimes. It's cheaper than anything else we would choose to do.|||Save your pennies, it's a destination resort. It's supposed to be more magical than just going to Great America. I really don't know how to get more people inside the park, it's always crowded. Maybe a winter/spring rate? They already have specials. If you can't afford it, I'm sorry, but Disneyland drew 15 million people last year who could.|||It must not be that unaffordable, because in my one experience at Disney World, it was so crowded you literally could not walk through the park. I will never go back. There's so many other places to go where you can have a better time for less money. Of course, my decision may be slightly influenced by the fact that our two young children asked us to please not make them go back to Disney World.|||I seriously doubt you will ever see Disney lower their rates. They invest large sums of money into their rides and exhibits and they have enough clientele to make a handsome profit. Their amusements are family friendly but you'd better save lots of cash to be able to enjoy them.|||NEVER! They're only going to get more expensive, because they can. If people want to go bad enough, they will pay it, because theres no other place like disney parks! I would suggest checking out six flags or california adventures instead, as they seem to be cheaper, though not quite as cool.|||Uh never. Disney World is the number one most visited park in the WORLD. They are doing very well and raking in cash. Why would they lower their prices when they are making so much money and obviously not having trouble attracting billions of people each year?|||my family and I always have such a great time that I consider it money well spent!|||I don't think ever. Maybe when the economy's better?
